About
The Chico State Plastics Program has been the endeavor of multiple hard-working and Dedicated individuals who, over the years, have built the program to be the best of its kind on this side of the Mississippi River. The program is always looking to improve and facilitate the education of the next generation of Plastic Engineers and Manufacturers. We hope to see you join in our Journey.
What Is SPE
​Founded in 1942, the Society of Plastics Engineers has become the recognized medium of communication amongst scientists and engineers engaged in the development, conversion, and applications of plastics. It is an international society with 22,500+ members in 84 countries.
Vision
The CSU Chico chapter provides an opportunity for students to explore the material, manufacturing, and product aspects of the plastics and composites industry. It provides students exposure to and contact with industry-grade machinery on campus, local plastics manufacturing facilities, participation in team research projects, and establishment of relationships with industrial, educational, and professional organizations The student chapter fosters teamwork and camaraderie amongst its aspiring engineers and manufacturing students providing a framework for professional development.
